Cause found

In February of 2022 I wrote a blog called “In search of a good cause”. I went on a personal exploration of how I could do more for the planet we all call home. After writing this blog I searched the internet for what type of organization would fit me. I looked into WWF and others. But it all felt too big. I realized that I wanted to support projects in my own country, or at least in my neck of the woods. I went on multiple online searches, but couldn’t really find what I was looking for.

So as I usually do, when I can’t make up my mind, I stopped  actively researching.

A few months later, I’m in Iceland with my mom. She gave me a trip together with her as a present two years earlier, and only at that time we were able to plan and go on the trip. Halfway through the trip I’m watching some youtube as we rest from our adventures. In the list of recommendations I see this video about how Iceland used to be way more forested than it is today.

I’m watching it and I’m surprised that it’s by an European organization that focuses on rewilding nature. Straight away I’m hyped. This is the type of work that I was looking for.

When I came home I looked through their website and was very pleased with the openness they display about the organization. Since I’m not interested in supporting the second home of some CEO. How they write about their choices gave me the comfort that this is what I was looking for.

I became a member and with my contribution Mossy Earth has done a lot of work. I do enjoy the option of following the projects my money is sent towards. Unfortunately they don’t have any possibility of volunteering at this time. But who knows, when they have a project close to my home, I might be able to put in some physical work.

I now have found my good cause. An organization that I can fully stand behind. I’m happy with where I stand now with regards to doing what I can for the world I live in. I try as often as possible to make the low impact choices. For where I can’t make these choices, for whatever reason, I’m proud that I’m (partially) compensating.

If, after reading my blog, you feel like you want to become a member of Mossy Earth as well. You can use my referral code, https://mossy.earth/?referral=MARHM5AOGD, to sign up. I’ve not been sponsored or asked to write about them. This is purely on my personal initiative. The referral doesn’t have any advantages on me, other than that it will show up on my impact breakdown.
