How can I help others in a way that I am putting my strengths at work? That’s what I was pondering over as I sat on a dune looking over the North Sea. There are loads of social media channels dedicated to helping others and whenever I see it I feel the strong urge to do the same. But I don’t want to make videos or instagram posts about it. Also I always saw things that I could do, but I knew I wouldn’t keep up with.
As my mind was wandering I was thinking that I was the only person there who was alone. I enjoy being alone and I don’t mind (anymore) to undertake things by myself. Living alone has one big downfall; you have to make an effort to talk about your ideas, discoveries or struggles of the day. Then the idea hit me. What if I’m going to offer others to be their listening ear. Here’s what I came up with:
Send me an email on firstname.lastname@example.org. Explain in short what you want to talk about and then we’ll schedule a whatsapp call.
I feel the need to put a few disclaimers in place. Firstly I’m not sure how much time I’ll have, especially in the future. This is an experiment for me that excites me a lot and I’m interested to see if and how I can make this a continuous thing in my life. Secondly I think it will be helpful to tell you I’m not a coach or therapist. If I feel that I’m the wrong person I won’t hesitate to say so. And lastly; I’m fluent in Dutch and English. If you don’t speak either of these languages it will be too hard for me to have a proper conversation.
In my life, especially the last few years, I’ve experienced and learned a lot of things. I’ll list the things that I’ve got experience with to give you an idea on topics that I can cover. But I’m happy to listen to (almost) anything.
